Filem pertama The Smurfs berjudul Les Aventures des Schtroumpfs (The Adventures of the Smurfs) ditayangkan pada tahun 1965 di Belgium.
Kemudian filem The Smurfs and the Magic Flute dihasilkan pada tahun 1976 dan tahun 2011 untuk filem The Smurfs.
Hanya dua orang pelakon alih suara original daripada siri animasi televisyen The Smurfs yang tampil dalam filem The Smurfs (2011) iaitu Jonathan Winters sebagai Papa Smurfs dan Frank Welker sebagai kucing ahli sihir Gargamel yang bernama Azrael.
